Our Programs
At Rose City Learning Center, we offer a variety of English language classes designed to meet the needs of learners at all levels. We provide Foundational English classes for beginners, helping students build essential language skills, as well as English for Special Purposes for intermediate and advanced learners. These specialized classes are tailored to focus on language relevant to specific careers and goals, such as healthcare or hospitality.
Our Foundational English classes run from 9:00 - 11:30 am, Monday through Thursday.
Our English for Special Purposes classes run in the afternoon and take place from 12:30 - 2:30 pm (in person on Monday and Wednesdays, with a Zoom check in on Tuesday or Thursday.)
We offer a unique Community ESOL class from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Fridays, where all are welcome to gather, practice conversational English skills, and engage with guest speakers from the Norwich community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to strengthen language skills in a relaxed, supportive environment while connecting with local resources.
Additionally, we encourage our students to complete at least 2 hours of EnGen each week. EnGen is an innovative online platform that provides personalized English lessons, helping learners to practice and improve their skills outside of class at their own pace.

Foundational English
Foundational English class is for learners with no or limited English proficiency. Participants will learn and use digital literacy skills and be given numerous opportunities to participate in meaningful language interactions to accelerate English acquisition.

English for Special Purposes
English for Special Purposes class is designed for learners who have already acquired basic functional literacy and English conversational skills. Participants will learn and use digital literacy skills and be given numerous opportunities to participate in meaningful language interactions to accelerate English acquisition.

Community ESL & Civic Participation
Community ESL and Civic Participation is created for learners of all proficiency levels and interests. Led by the Support Services Director, these open enrollment classes meet in person or virtually for two hours every Friday morning.
